Georgia Expressway Car Accident Lawyers

Expressway accidents are among the most serious wrecks that occur on Georgia highways. Vehicles are generally traveling at high rates of speed, and drivers have a much harder time controlling their vehicle once the accident sequence begins. The lawyers at Katz Personal Injury Lawyers have handled many car accident cases which have occurred on expressways, and are particularly qualified to deal with the many issues involved in high-speed wrecks.

Entering an Expressway

Expressways are different from regular roads in that access is controlled. Vehicles can only enter and exit expressways at specific places called interchanges. To safely enter an expressway, move into the acceleration lane from the entrance ramp. Here, you should adjust your speed to the speed of the expressway traffic. Only when it is safe to do so (when you have reached an appropriate speed and there is room to move into the next lane), merge into traffic.

It is important to not make the mistake of entering an expressway lane too early by crossing the gore. This is the area marked by solid white lines and comes to a point where the entrance ramp lane merges with the expressway driving lane.

Exiting an Expressway

Get ready to exit an expressway by cautiously moving to the right lane for an exit on the right, or the left lane for an exit on the left. Pay attention to guide signs to know which side the exit will be on. Enter the deceleration lane as early as it is safely possible, and slow down to a safe speed. Observe the speed limits posted on exit ramps because there can often be sharp curves to maneuver. When you are slowing down in the traveling lane preparing to exit, be sure to use your brake lights or a turn signal to indicate a change in speed to the drivers behind you.

Using Expressway Lanes Safely

In addition to only entering and exiting expressways at designated entrances and exits, drivers must use expressway lanes appropriately. You should drive to the right of the median unless directed to do otherwise by a sign, traffic control device, or police officer. You must also obey the yellow or white striping on the roadway that indicates lanes, the convergence of lanes, or areas in which vehicles should not operate. Be especially cautious in gore areas, where the acceleration lane and the adjacent travel lane converge. Gores are marked by solid white lines.

I was in a head-on collision last year that put me in a wheelchair with a fractured femur. I needed an attorney and my cousin recommended this firm because he had used Briant Mildenhall for his accident. I was glad I called Briant because he always did what he said he would do and kept me informed...

I am 100% satisfied. I called Rob the day after the accident. Everything he said that would happen did, every step of the way. He went beyond what we needed him to do. I would definitely use him again and recommend him to anyone who needs a lawyer.

Robert Katz isn't your average personal injury lawyer. He has specialized knowledge and experience that the others don't.
